The Mexican navy boat hits the Brooklyn Bridge on the training mission in New York; 2 dead, 19 injured

Dumbo, Brooklyn – A Mexican marine sailboat with 277 people on board fell into Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday evening, killed two people and, according to the authorities, injured more than a dozen others who were on board in a dramatic scene along the ranger promenade of New York City.

The video in the above player comes from an earlier update.

The crash occurred at 8:30 p.m., which, according to the New York police authority, was violated at least 19 people. According to city officials who made a press conference late on Saturday evening, four people had serious injuries.

Mayor Eric Adams said early Sunday that two people were dead after the crash. Two others remained in a critical condition, he said in a statement published on social media.

The Mexican Navy confirmed that her ship was involved in Cuauhtémoc.

The Cuauhtémoc, a training ship, carried out a maneuver in the East River.

“The captain who maneuvered the ship lost electricity and mechanical function and the current” left the ship directly into the pillar of the bridge and hit the mass of the ship, where there was a few seafarers, “said Nypd boss Wilson Aramboles during a press consort.

According to Aramboles, the seafarers were injured as a result of the mass that hit the bridge.

Numerous cell phone videos from nearby spectators caught the moment when the ship masts decorated with lights collided with the bottom of the Brooklyn bridge. In a video there is a woman who films the ship on her phone to hear loudly if the ship could collide with the bridge. When the mast of the ship hits the bottom of the bridge, she screams: “It has crashed! It's crashed!” In Spanish and then, in English, the ship continues to approach the Dumbo bank: “Stop! Stop!”

“Oh my god,” she continues in English and then she says in Spanish: “It has crashed, it crashed.

Members of the ship crew were seen after the collision in front of the masts.

According to officials, nobody fell into the water. Officials said they did not believe that the bridge had suffered structural damage.

The ship renounced Pier 17 and went to Iceland, said officials.

The National Transportation Safety Board is on site and will begin his investigation, but will show preliminary information that, according to officials, it was probably a mechanical problem with the sailboat.

The Brooklyn Bridge had temporarily closed after the crash, but had reopened since the New York Ministry of Transport.

“While the inspections continue to continue, there are no signs of structural damage to the Brooklyn Bridge,” said Nydot in an explanation.
