Former Vice President Mike Pence said on Sunday that President Donald Trump was supposed to reject the gift of a 400 -million dollar of the royal family of Qatar, citing national security concerns.

“Qatar has a long story to play both sides,” said Pence in an interview with NBCS “Meet the Press”. “The idea that we would accept an Air Force One from Qatar.

Trump's plan to accept the lavish Qatarian Jumbo-Jet, a Boeing 747-8 and convert it as Air Force One, has triggered violent controversy about legality, ethics and the national security effects of the largest foreign gift that the US government has ever received.

Trump previously said that the aircraft acceptance of delays at the US manufacturer Boeing was due.

“There are profound problems, the potential for secret services, the need to ensure that the United States President is safe around the world,” said Pence. “My hope is that the president will check it. I think if Qatar wants to give the United States a gift, you should take these $ 400 million and plow it into the infrastructure on our military base.”

Trump said the plane was officially handed over to the US Department of Defense. As soon as Trump ends his second term as President, ownership of the gift to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation is expected. In this way, the Palastjet would never personally belong to Trump.

“This highly respected country donates the plane to the US Air Force/ Ministry of Defense and not to me,” Trump told the truth in a post on social Sunday. “In this way you save our country and the American taxpayer, hundreds of millions of dollars.”
