Prescott Valley's police department is pleased to tell you that you will organize your first Dog Walker Watch program training training. Dog Walker Watch (DWW) program developed by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) is an initiative for awareness of crime based in the municipality that trains dog owners and hikers in order to recognize and report suspicious behaviors. It was adopted by law enforcement agencies in the USA, active in over 2,000 municipalities and will now start here in Prescott Valley.

The DWW program is a simple and inexpensive way to increase the security of the neighborhood.

Trained hikers act as additional “eyes” for the police and promotes positive relationships between residents and law enforcement authorities who promote trust and cooperation.

Those who want to participate receive a free one -hour training session. The participants learn what behavior should look after, including people who are looking for vehicles or mailboxes, unusual vehicle activities and strange behavior from door to door.

The Dog Walker Watch training will take place on Thursday, June 5, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Prescott Valley police department in the training room. To register for DWW training, please send an email to Desiree Kelly Kelly@prescottvalley-az.gov.

The Prescott Valley police authority can be contacted for non-applications and 911 for emergencies under 928-772-9267. The silent witness of Yavapai County is 1-800-932-3232.
