The man from Ohio arrested after crash killed pregnant wife, says Sheriff

Whiteford township, me. – A man from Ohio was arrested after running in front of a suspected drunk crash, in which a pregnant woman was killed.

The crash was reported on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 10:01 p.m. and occurred on the US US-23 northern Road in the Whiteford community.

According to the Sheriff Office of Monroe County, Kaitlyn A. Ellison, 32, from Petersburg, Michigan drove a Ford flight on the US-23 when the truck was driven by one by a 24-year-old man from Oregon, Ohio, Chrysler 300.

Witnesses told the investigators that the man from Ohio accelerated on the right shoulder before he joined the right lane and tried to pass the forfe on the left. The Chrysler hit the Ford and let it run off the street.

The Ford rolled over an embankment several times before stopping on the right. Ellison was caught in the vehicle and had to be published by the Whiteford Township fire department

Ellison was brought to the Toledo Hospital, where she was declared dead. She was in the seventh month pregnant.

The police said the Ohio man had run from the scene of the crash. He was on a pilot station on the US-223. He was arrested and is held in prison by Monroe County.

It is expected that he is exposed to two counts of the second degree and two OWI counts.

His name is only released when he was officially charged before the 1st district court by Monroe County.
