Ben Stokes: England Test Captain gives up alcohol to support the recovery of injuries

Stokes was not found guilty in a top -class court proceedings in 2018 after he was involved in a fight in front of a night club in Bristol.

He told the court that he had drunk but was not drunk.

In his podcast interview, Stokes described the differences in Cricket's drinking culture in today's professional era compared to the past.

“In the 90s and 00s there were incredible stories [about drinking]. It has definitely been set over the years, ”said Stokes.

“The game is more demanding for the body than then.

“There is so much more cricket that the schedule gives so much more that it is simply impossible for the body to withstand everything – even without the disadvantages of what a few beers can do for the next day at the end of the day.”

Stokes' latest injury record, which also included knee surgery at the end of 2023, led to questions about his future and his ability to play as an all -rounder on the test side of England.

However, he said that he was fully committed to this recent strict rehabilitation program and “had no interest in stopping”.

In the past few weeks, Stokes has published film material on social media that he showed him in training with Durham Bowling, and he hopes to play a full role against Zimbabwe.

“I think on the day I wake up and not bother to carry out the training program that at the time they no longer want,” he said.

“But I have no interest in stopping.

“It is only more difficult to do everything. So now I have the feeling that I have to work so much harder from the field, in the gym and all of these things to just give me the best chance to be out there to perform.

“But I will continue as long as possible.”
