The 17-year-old fatally shot in the car park of the Kearns High School

Salt Lake City-a 17-year-old is dead after the police have announced that he was shot in the Kearns High School parking lot on Sunday morning.

Lt. Melody Cutler from the Unified Police Department described the incident as a “robbery that has become bad”.

Cutler said at around 1:49 a.m., an 18-year-old man sold a product in the school parking lot when another vehicle with four passengers arrived.

Two people got out of the vehicle with weapons, said Cutler, then the 18-year-old “seller” went to the trunk of his car to get a weapon.

One of the people with weapons supposedly went around the side of the 18-year-old and focused on the gun on him.

The police said the 18-year-old had started to run away and shoot shots and hit a 17-year-old.

Cutler said the 17-year-old was taken to a hospital where they died of their injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The police said the 18-year-old once played the officers down the street after the shootout and was cooperative with the police.

There was no identification of the people involved.

The police said they examined the shootout as a murder and said that nobody was charged at the time of publication.
