The No. 1 show by Prime Video with Kevin Bacon was canceled after a season

Even the reaching of the number 1 is not enough to keep a show the chop block nowadays. Prime Video has “The Bondsman”, his new supernatural action drama with Kevin Bacon, after just one season, confirmed TVline this week.

The show dethroned “Reacher” in the top 10 of the streamers when all eight episodes of season 1 debuted on April 3. Since then she has stayed there, even though she dropped second in the USA after “Reacher”. Now, just over a month after his premiere, Prime Video has shown that it decided not to continue with a second season.

The series of blum house television channels Bacon as Hub Halloran, a washed-out bounty hunter who was murdered at work, only to be resurrected by the devil to hunt demons that have escaped hell. Finding Hell's fugives is a bloody task, but it is his only shot of redemption.

During the hunting, he has to put himself among the living family, long secrets and the chaotic heritage of his time. Everywhere thread is the familiar twang of country music, and the show is honestly: Hub and his ex-wife (Jennifer Nettles) were once a hit duo before things were mad.

The fans have called “The Bondsman” one of the most entertaining roles from Bacon for years. An all-star ensemble is joined by Jolene Purdy (“The White Lotus”), Beth Grant (“The Mindy Project”), Maxwell Jenkins (“Lost in Space”) and Damon Herriman (“justified”).

I wanted to check it because it sounds from the same fabric as one of my favorite film series for guilty pleasure. “Ripd” read my colleague Alix Blackburn's assessment of “The Bondsman” sold when she “part of horror, partly dark comedy, partly south -got -fever dream, and somehow it works”.

It is far from the only one who enjoyed the latest supernatural excursion from Prime Video. Season 1 achieved a respectable 83% critic of critics for Rotten tomatoes, and the audience gave him a similarly solid assessment of 77%.

However, the ratings alone were not enough to convince Prime Video to order a second season. Exactly why Amazon pulled the plug remains unclear, but if you consider how many people still hire, many will be discouraged that there will no longer exist if they end the first season. C'est la vie during this time of streaming when we are in.
