Was in his blood.

The widow of a veteran NYPD police officer who was killed by a drunk hit-and-run driver keeps a blood drive in his memory on Tuesday.

“My husband was a blood donor himself and I know that it is something he loved for others,” widow Irene Tsakos told the post office. “It was his nature. It was to be given – to give his time and blood.”

Det. Anastasios Tsakos, a father of two children, was killed on April 27, 2021 by drunk, hit and guided driver Jessica Beauvais on Long Island Expressway in Queens.

The prosecutors said that the 34-year-old had a high drug and a BAC of 0.15 fat twice as high as the statutory border-when she hit her Volkswagen in 2013 in the 14-year-old NYPD veterans, while working and then held an accident scene around 2 a.m.

Just hours earlier, Beauvais was in a live podcast on Facebook, which was in one downhill drinks-including several shots-moving, while spitting out the anti-cop mood.

A judge later sentenced Beauvais to 27 years in prison. The 43-year-old police officer was posthumously promoted to detective.

“It was very difficult what we went through,” said the widow, who made the news when she went out of tears when the prosecutors showed cruel photos of her husband's injuries.

“We are trying to continue with our lives,” she said. “We start healing.”

Her son is now 7 years old and her daughter was just 10 years old. The family lives in the house in Northport. The couple bought six months before his death.

“This should honor him, celebrate his life with people who knew him, and people who knew from him and to save others,” said the widow. “Everything should celebrate his life and help others.”
