On the opening night of real women, curves have curves on Broadway

At the beginning of this week there was so much to celebrate in James Earl Jones Theater. The last show of the Broadway season 2024/25, real women have curves that were officially opened.

“This musical is currently so important” Tatianna Córdoba on the opening evening. “I think that our story, immigrant history, is American history. It is currently such a noticeable topic and it is so important to bring this to the audience. In the core of our history, too, the idea is to take over fully- whether it is your body or herity.

Several statements came out to celebrate with the occupation and creative team, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Dasha Polanco, Sara Bareilles, Ana Villafañe, Michelle Buteau, Judy Reyes, Daphne Rubin-Vega and more.

Real women have curves are a fun, joyful and authorized new musical that celebrates our common humanity with humor and heart. It is the summer of 1987, and Ana Garcia dreams of flying away from Ost -los Angeles. But when her family receives a make-or break order for 200 clothes, Ana juggles her own ambitions, the expectations of her mother and a community of women who are all trying to work against the opportunities.

“I am a curvy, Mexican immigrant who corresponds to the role of a curvy, Mexican immigrant who could ask a little more,” added Florencia Cuenca. “To provide that for my community and the people who come and see themselves on stage … I heard it so often on the stage door. This is the greatest gift.”
