Monday briefing: Trump and Putin will speak

President Trump said that he would call President Vladimir Putin from Russia today to try to secure an armistice with Ukraine. The Kremlin confirmed that the two guides would speak. Trump also said he would call President Volodymyr Zelensky from Ukraine and NATO leaders. Here is what to know.

Friedrich Merz, Germany's chancellor, said reporters yesterday that he spoke to Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and Merz and the leaders of France and Great Britain tried to speak to Trump before calling Putin.

Trump and Putin's call comes when Russia met Ukraine with one of his greatest drone bombs of the war. An estimated 273 exploding drones and decoys were recorded in the sky in Ukraine. A woman was killed and several people were injured.
