Insider licks Los Angeles Dodger's top trading destination

While the MLB season reaches the two-month brand, the competing teams begin to assess how they can improve their roster before the summer trade period. In particular, two clubs – the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs – have developed as early applicants for one of the most fascinating potential trade destinations: Colorado Rockie's third Baseman Ryan McMahon.

According to Bob hanging gale from USA TODAYBoth the Dodgers and the Cubs monitor McMahon exactly if the Rockies moves it.

“Several teams, including the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers, monitor Colorado Rockies, Ryan McMahon's information, exactly if he is traded this summer,” said Nightengale.

McMahon, 30, takes value on both sides of the ball. He was an all-star in 2024 and ended this season with 20 Homeruns, 65 RBIs and strong defensive figures in 153 games. While his offensive figures have dropped in 2025, he currently has six homes and 11 RBIs in 44 games .209-Sine elite walk rate, the hard-hit percentage and the average exit speed remain light blows. According to Baseball Savant, McMahon ranks in the 90th percentile or better both in the hard hit rate and in the output speed.

This underlying profile could make him an ideal candidate for knowing knowledge-especially if he ends up in a more competitive environment like Chicago or Los Angeles.

The Cubs, which lacked the stability of the third basis throughout the season, could significantly benefit from acquiring McMahon. Chicago has turned between Jon Berti, Nicky Lopez and Vidal Bruján on the hot corner – none of them offer McMahon's combination of power and defender.

In the meantime, the Dodgers have to do with their own uncertainty of the third basis. Max Muncy delivered power and occasional clutch goal, but was defensively below average. It beats .211 with an ops of 0.674 compared to McMahons .709 ops. The gap is even more defensive: McMahon has a field percentage of 0.971 and 3 outs above average (91. Percentile), while Muncy has a field percentage of 0.933 with -4 outs above average (7. Percentile) Pro baseball rescue.

This inequality in field ability in connection with McMahon's offensive blanket makes it a potential upgrade – even if Muncy has currently only exceeded it by two points in the average.

If the Dodgers acted against McMahon, they would also acquire a player under contract by 2027. McMahon is in the middle of a six-year, $ 70 million deal, which pays him $ 16 million in 2026 and in 2027-a manageable number for a franchise with the financial firepower of Los Angeles.

A potential obstacle: McMahon is currently playing for a competition of In-Division. The Rockies can hesitate to bring one of their best veterans to a National League West Powerhouse. In view of the extent of Colorado's battles, however, they sit after a rare profit from 14 to 12 against Arizona on Saturday and are up to date to become one of the worst teams in MLB history – they will probably be open to listening to offers if the return is strong enough.

McMahon trade could start a broader reconstruction for the Rocky Mountains and enable competitors such as the Cubs or Dodgers to support a key position while they look the deep after -season. At the moment, all eyes stay on the third Baseman in Colorado – and the competitors circle it.
