Chemical leak in Camlin Fine Sciences Factory in Boisar; 11 workers in the hospital

Palghar, Maharashtra: Eleven factory workers were hospitalized in the Tarapur Midc Industrial Area in Boisar in the Tarapur MIDC industrial industry from Boisar in the Tarapur Midc Midc Midc Midc Industrial Area. The workers suffered from breathing and eye problems and are said to be in a stable state in a private hospital in Boisar.

Preliminary reports indicate that the incident took place around 3:00 a.m. when Dimethylsulfate (DMS), an endangered chemical that was used in the production of antioxidative production was transferred from Appendix No. 4 to Appendix No. 10 with a 500 liter receiver. Due to a delay when the insulation valve is closed at the receiving end, about 10–15 kg of DMS was leaked through, with poisonous vapors being released.

While night shift workers did not report any direct symptoms, several employees started eye irritation after returning. Between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., the workers concerned contacted the factory management between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and initiated quick measures. They were called back and brought to Vikas Netalaya in Boisar around 10:30 a.m. to get further medical care.

The deputy director SG Sabban initiated a preliminary examination on the same day at 1:00 p.m. They also met with the employees concerned to evaluate the situation.

A detailed examination is underway to determine the exact cause of the leak and to assess compliance with security protocols. The incident has triggered concerns about industrial security measures in the Tarapur MIDC area, in which numerous chemical processing units are housed.
