EU, British leader speak to Trump before his Putin Call as Ukraine -hit | Donald Trump News

British Prime Minister Keir Starrer discussed the war in Ukraine with the leaders of the United States, Italy, France and Germany. A 10 spokesman for the Downing Street said before the planned call from US President Donald Trump with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Monday.

The flood of diplomacy takes place shortly after the non-conclusive direct Russia Ukraine talks in Istanbul, Turkiye, on Friday.

The leaders discussed the need for unconditional ceasefire and for Putin to take the peace talks seriously, said the spokesman late Sunday and added that they also increased the use of sanctions if Russia was not seriously involved in an armistice and concsed peace talks.

In the comments on reporters on Sunday on Sunday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that he had discussed the problem with the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, while the two men in the Vatican took part in the first trade fair of Pope Leo XIV. Merz said he also spoke in detail with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Vatican.

“I spoke to Marco Rubio, including the call [with Putin]«, Said Merz.

Trump said that he had to speak to Putin and Zelenskyy to discuss paths to stop the “bloodbath” of the war.

In Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed to the Russian news agencies that preparations for a conversation between Putin and Trump were underway.

The talks in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Friday were the first time that the teams had had personal conversations since March 2022, weeks after the full invasion of the neighbor Russia.

The short talks showed only one agreement to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war according to the head of both delegations in their greatest exchange since the beginning of the war.

A high -ranking Ukrainian official who was familiar with the talks said the Russian negotiators asked Ukraine to get their troops from all Ukrainian regions claimed by Moscow before they would agree to an armistice. This is a red line for Ukraine, and as it looks, Russia has no full control in these regions.

In the meantime, Zelenskyy met the US Vice President JD Vance and Rubio on the sidelines of the Pontifical inauguration, according to a source in the Ukrainian delegation. It was the first meeting between Zelenskyy and Vance since they were collided publicly in the White House in the White House in February during the future of war in Ukraine.

Ukraine fears ballistic rocket attacks

In the meantime, Ukraine has claimed that Russia is planning to start an intercontinental ballistic rocket late Sunday in order to intimidate it and its western allies.

The military intelligence agency of Ukraine, Gur, said Russia is planning to carry out a “training and fighting” start of the rocket.

Gur said in a statement on the telegram app that the start from the Sverdlovsk region should be implemented in Russia, and added that the flight span for the rocket was more than 10,000 km (6,200 miles).

Ukraine also said on Sunday that Russia started a record number of drones overnight, which aimed at different regions, including that of the capital in which a woman was killed.

His Air Force said that Russia had launched “273 Shahed attack drones and various types of imitators”, 88 of which were destroyed and 128 were misleading without negative consequences.

Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said it was a “record” number of drones. “Russia has a clear goal – to continue killing civilians,” she said.

Al Jazeeras Zein Basravi, who reported about Kyiv, said overnight: “Siren of the air raids started and they continued for almost nine hours.”

“We see these massive drone attacks and we see crowds of people who are looking for protection who are looking for security, once again in the deep underground U -Bahn stations in the capital and in other areas of the country,” said Basravi.

“Conscious murder of the civilian population”

The Russian military said that 25 Ukrainian drones had intercepted overnight and on Sunday morning. It was also said that Bahatyr captured, another village in the Donetsk region of East Ukraine, since it increases the war efforts despite the conversations.

Russia's drone attacks overnight were completely convicted by Ukrainian officials.

Zelenskyy confirmed his call to stronger sanctions against Moscow after a Russian drone killed nine bus rides on Saturday in the Sumy region in the northeast of Ukraine. “This was a deliberate murder of civilians,” he said.

“Pressure has to be exerted on Russia to stop the murders. Without harder sanctions, Russia will not search for real diplomacy without stronger pressure.”

Russia, which refused against civilians, said it had a military goal in Sumy. The Ministry of Defense claimed that another comparison in eastern Ukraine was recorded.

Zelenskyy's top adjutant Andriy Yermak also condemned the attacks.

“Negotiations in Istanbul are just an excuse for Russia. Putin wants war,” said Yermak.

Russia aims to “create conditions for permanent peace”

In an interview with Russian state television, Putin said that Moscow was “eliminating the causes that triggered this crisis, creating the conditions for permanent peace and guaranteeing Russia's security” without further developing.

Russia's references to the “basic causes” of the conflict usually refer to alleged complaints with Kyiv and the West, which Moscow presented as a justification for the introduction of the invasion in February 2022.

This includes promise to “De-Nazify” and demonstrate the Ukraine, protect Russian speakers in the east of the country, crowd against NATO expansion and stop the geopolitical drift of Ukraine to the west.

The Ukraine and the West rejected all of these reasons and said that Russia's offensive is nothing more than a land robbery in the imperial style.

Tens of thousands have been killed in Russia since the beginning of the war, and millions are forced to flee from their houses.

Putin said the Russian army, which occupies around 20 percent of Ukraine, had the “troops and means” to achieve their goals.

The US State Department said in a statement that Rubio and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov spoke to each other on Saturday. During the call, Rubio welcomed the prisoner exchange agreements hit in Istanbul, said the department's spokesman.

The highest negotiator of Ukraine, Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, said the “next step” was a meeting between the two warfare presidents.

Russia said that the request was noted, but added that the exchange of prisoners of war must be completed first, and both sides would then have to present their visions for an armistice before the next round of negotiation could be arranged.
