Seoul, May 19 (Ians): The North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN could base war against Ukraine against the Russian International Criminal Court (ICC), a former head of ICC on Monday and added that it was the right time for Kim to be brought to trial.

Song Sang-Hyun, former President of the ICC, made the comments at an international conference in Seoul when North Korea confirmed for the first time last month that troops to Russia used to support the war against Ukraine.

Despite his human rights violations in North Korea, Kim has not yet been transferred to the ICC, but legal standards have now been fulfilled for Ukraine in order to pursue a case against him in the ICC on the support of the north in the Russia Ukraine War, according to the former ICC President.

“Time is the right to bring Kim Jong-un to the ICC,” said Song in his keynote speech at the event and added that Pyongyang's military support in Russia submitted Ukraine with the legal standards to submit a complaint against North Korea as a victim.

In March 2023, the ICC gave an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin for alleged war crimes associated with the Russia's war against Ukraine, Yonhap News Agency reported.

Since the end of last year, North Korea has used thousands of troops to fight together with Russian armed forces in the war, with Pyongyang and Moscow officially confirming troops last month.

Without a limitation period, an ICC arrest warrant demands that the defendant “bear the stigma for his entire life” and “there is considerable psychological punishment” by forbidding it to set the foot in 124 ICC member countries, as the song was found.

He also asked the ICC to actively react to war crimes that were committed by the North Korean leadership and its accomplices.
