Saginaw-Sport-Highlights: Nouvel Sophomore claims three regional titles

The Catholic Nouvel Catholic Sophomore, Claire Long, called for three titles in the regional route of Division 4 on Saturday in Fowler.

Nouvel took seventh place in the girls' ranking, but won the 100-meter dash in 12.97 seconds for a long time, 200 in 27.24 seconds and the 400 in 59.58 seconds.

Fowler won the girls of the girls' team with 193.33 points, followed by Breckenridge in the second (94.5), Michigan Lutheran Seminary in the sixth (45.33), Nouvel in the seventh (30), Saginaw Arts & Sciences 10th (20), St. Charles 11th (11) and Coleman 14th (10.5).

Fowler also won the boy's event with 179.5 points and defeated second place in Michigan Lutheran Seminary (131.5) and Breckenridge (59). Coleman was the seventh (37), Nouvel 10. (19), St. Charles 11. (17), Merrill 12. (4) and Sasa 12 (4).

Breckenridges Zander Mapes called for a few championships and won the discus in 157 feet, 10 inches and the shot in 48-6 ¾. Breckenridge added another one by Anthony Rowe in 1,600 in 4: 49.53.

baseball

Alpena tournament: Freeland went 3-0 and claimed the title Alpena Friends on Saturday to defeat Sault Ste. Marie, 13-3. The 19-7 Falcons scored seven runs in the first inning to lay away the game. Connor Lasceski, who won, had three goals, while Jake Metiva also had three goals with two RBIs. Liam Rump and Kaden Gerzseny added two hits each. Freeland opened the tournament with a 9-1 victory against Alpena, and Carter McLaren won the victory with a three-hitter with five inning. Jake Clawson had two goals with three RBIs, while Tucker Hileman, Gerzseny, Rump, Lasceski and Metiva each added two hits. In an 11: 4 victory against Cheboygan, Karson Worth did not allow deserved run in three innings of relief. Worth and Gerzseny each had two goals, whereby it was worth driving in three runs. GERZSENY and LASCESKI were included in the all-tournament team.

Hai invitational: The Michigan Lutheran Seminary defeated Houghton Lake with 13: 2 and St. Louis (3-0) to invite the St. Louis Shark. Owen Mason won the victory against Houghton Lake and excluded two in three innings. Noah Reif, Will Salgat and Eli Lewis each had two goals for the cardinals, whereby Lewis was driving in three runs. Reif threw a shutout in the second game, hit eight and allowed four goals. Zachary Scharrer led the MLS offensive with a triple, running, walking and stolen base. Easton Seleski had two goals for St. Louis.

Frankenmuth invitation: Frankenmuth opened with an 8-2 win against Standish-Sterling and scored six runs in the third inning. Brady Mort had two goals, two RBIs and a stolen base to run the Eagles, with Luke Purves walking and scoring twice. Caden Sommerfield won the victory with two shutout -ininnings. Frankenmuth dropped a 4-0 decision on Midland Dow in game 2. Harper O'Keefe won the victory with a four-hitter who achieved eight for Dow. Carter Harcek knocked two runs for the chargers. Purves reached the base twice with one goal and hit from Pitch.

Softball

Frankenmuth Invitational: Frankenmuth went 3-0 in his invitation and started with a 6-0 win against Bay City Central. Chloe Compau threw a no-grille without hits and without walks in seven innings and hit 13. Miranda Polly led the offensive with four goals, including her sixth homer of the season, with Izzy Bernthal. In the second game, the Eagles scored three runs in the sixth to defeat Yale (8: 7). Mady Goodwin won the victory and scored two goals on the offensive. Polly led the crime with three goals, with Compau adding two goals. Compau threw a two-hit shutout in a 5-0 victory against Shepherd and gave her a 15-0 record with 200 strikes in 92 innings. Claire Edwards had two goals, with Bernthal getting a hit, a walk and races.

Swan Valley Invitational: Swan Valley went 3-0 in his own invitation, with Violet Boehler ended the invitation with six goals, including two Homer. Mia Robinson achieved nine to achieve an 8: 4 victory against Unionville-Sebewaing in game 1. Hailey Koch led the offensive with three goals, including a Homer and five RBIs. Izzy Coffel, Boehler and Robinson each had two goals. In a 13-0 victory against Petoskey, Robinson scored six out of three innings for victory. Alivia Guilbeaux had three goals for the Vikings, with Shiloh Charboneux and Boehler adding two goals. Boehler met a Homer and drove in three runs. Swan Valley ended with a 12:4 win against Bay City Western. Layla Shanks won the victory with four strikes in three innings. Chloe Bryce and Guilbeaux each had three hits, with Coffel, Koch and Boehler adding two hits, including Boehler's Homer.

St. Louis Grand Slam tournament: St. Louis achieved the championship game at the fourth annual coach Hanline Grand Slam tournament. St. Louis opened with a 4-2 victory against Dansville, with Paige Lunack eight. Tarkoha Henry and Morgan Leonard led the sharks with two goals each. St. Louis followed with a 15-0 win with three inning against Beaverton, with Lunack achieving another victory. Ellie Katt led the sharks with three goals, with Brynn Saxton adding two goals. Henry met her first Homer of the season. St. Louis (17: 8) lost an 8-0 decision against Lake Fenton in the championship game.

Girl football

Midland High 8, Traverse City St. Francis 0: Midland High ended the regular season with an 18-0 record after blowing past a traverse City St. Francis team, which took eighth place in Division 3rd Elliott Hays. Elliott Hays received a hat trick to keep the chemics, with Alahna Becket adding two goals. Sydney Fulcher, Theresa Wilk and Lizzy Striebel add individual goals. Beckett and Morgan Ludwig each had two templates, with Reagan Vowel, Striebel and Moriah Fulcher adding an assist teacher. Niobe Marchalant and Cady McPeak shared the time in the goal for the shutout.
