The NBA MVP is one of the most prestigious individual awards in basketball. Legends such as LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain dominated the league and won the award several times.

This year the MVP race is tight again, with two names: Nikola Jokić and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Both led their teams to the Western Conference semi -finals, with the thunder after a dramatic game 7.

When will the NBA -MVP be announced?

It has been a while since the regular season ended and the MVP trophy is still waiting for a home. Last year the league announced the award in the second week of May when Jokić won its third MVP.

Usually the MVP is unveiled between the first and second round of the playoffs. While there was a delay this year, the announcement should now come every day.

The voters will have a difficult decision. The MVP is decided by a group of sports journalists and broadcasters who classify their five best options. The voices in first place are worth 10 points, the second place gets 7 and it drops to 1 point for fifth place.
