The police in Rhode Island reacted to wild speculation that a serial killer may be behind a number of recent deaths in all of New England after human remains were discovered at the beginning of this week that were not far from Taylor Swift's Seaside Mansion in Watch Hill.

The remains were found on Wednesday (May 14th) in Westerly, a wealthy beach town in Rhode Island, on the coast of Swift's extensive property. It is the latest in a number of 13 corpses that have been found in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island since March. Of course, this has fueled theories online that something scary is going on.

But now the police have reacted to speculation about the human remains near Taylor Swift's Villa in Rhode Island.

So what did the police actually say?

In an interview with Fox News, Paul Gingerella, police chief of Westerly said:

He assumes that the rumors mainly come from social media and have referred to them as “power of social media”. Although he still believes that it is more than damage overall.

The medical examiner's office in Rhode Island is currently working to properly identify the remains. However, no link was made to one of the other cases.

According to criminologist James Alan Fox, it is probably not likely. In conversation with Northeasters Global News, Fox said that the victims did not have enough together, things like age, gender or place to point out a single murderer.

“There is no pattern of the landfill,” he said. “Serial killers usually adhere to familiar areas. Most kill near home or work, not in several countries.”

He added that many serial killers have jobs and families so that they do not travel far or often. “You kill part -time if you want. It's not time to look for victims.”

Why are people convinced that it is a serial killer?

It is mainly the numbers. 13 corpses in a little more than two months that spread in three states understandably have attracted people's attention. So far, six victims have been identified as female and three as male. The other four have not yet been confirmed. Your identities and their age groups are still unknown. So that felt like calm coastal cities and unusual districts.

Online theories were further fueled by the fact that this latest discovery Taylor Swift's Watch Hill Mansion and a nearby five-star resort near Taylor Swift happened. So far, however, the police have not found anything that indicates that the cases are connected and no suspects have been named.
