CPI (m) dives the heat in the enforcement directorate over 2 crore bribes scandal of the week- the week

The CPI (m) intensified its attack on the enforcement directorates (ED) and questioned the agency's credibility and integrity of the agency according to allegations of bribes to high -ranking civil servants in his Kochi unit. Shekhar Kumar, deputy director of the Kochi unit of the enforcement directorate, is the key that is charged in the case registered by the VACB. The businessman who had operated a cashew export import company submitted the complaint after he was called by the Kochi unit of the ED in 2024. The agency had accused him of manipulating accounts to hide money laundering, citing the company's high sales.

According to the investigation report, the first defendant, Kumar, had asked for years of financial documents and threatened the businessman with arrest and a registered case. Shortly thereafter, an agent called Wilson Varghese -who is currently in VacB -generated -generally to the businessman and offered to pay the ED matter for 2 billion GBP -to be paid to Kumar. He also demanded that £ 2 Lakh in cash to be handed over personally on May 15, 2025.
