Smart Watch notifications about heart health

Q. My new smart watch has notifications for various heart -related factors. Do you recommend using them?

A. Personal wearables such as intelligent watches are great progress to keep an eye on their health. These devices can easily monitor different parameters by measuring their impulse and body movements from their wrist. The heart rate tracking characteristics alerts you if your heart rate is too low (usually 40 beats per minute or lower) or too high (usually 100 strokes per minute or higher if you are inactive). Since one of these conditions can justify medical help, the use of this function is a good idea.

The Electrocardiogram (EKG) function that was found on many smart watches Heart letter. The EKG feature can also be useful for people who occasionally experience short palpitations. During or directly after such an episode, you can quickly absorb a short EKG, in which the EKG app symbol is opened on your watch face, and touched the clock for 30 seconds by hand while sitting on the clock. Follow the instructions of your watch for recording the EKG and send it to your doctor. The ECG often shows individual additional beats that are common and generally no worrying knowledge. If the watch records atrial fibrillation, a person would alternatively go through a formal AFIB evaluation and possible treatment.

You can also draw some intelligent watches aware of breathing disorders during sleep – a possible sign of obstructive sleep apnea and a risk factor for both the disease of the coronary arteries and for AFIB. A bed partner often notices loud snoring (a trademark of sleep apnea). But if you sleep alone, this function could be useful.

A new function that recently received the FDA Clearance is a “loss of pulse” fereke on the Google Pixel 3 Smart Watch. The function uses sensors to determine that your heart has stopped beating, which with a heart attack with cardiac arrest, breathing failure (if the lungs do not work properly) or even an overdose can occur. After a short check-in time, the Smart Watch sounds an alarm and starts a countdown. If there is no answer, the watch uses a built -in mobile function or a connected smartphone to contact emergency services with context and location. I noticed that this could have been helpful for actors Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa, both of whom died at home and were not discovered for more than a week. We have to learn more about the details about how this develops in the real world. However, it seems to be a helpful new function for monitoring heart patients.
