CBS News Chief steps down in the middle of Trump.

The President and CEO of CBS News announced on Monday that she will return and marked the second top-class departure of the organization last month because she is fighting President Donald Trump and a top-class merger.

Wendy McMahon, who took over the marked news brand in 2023, said in a memo that her time on the company was “a privilege and joy”, but that the past few months were “challenging”.

“It has become clear that the company and I do not agree to the front,” McMahon wrote in a memo to CBS News. “It is time for me to continue and drive this organization with new leadership.”

George Cheeks, President and CEO of CBS, did not deal with McMahon's comments in a separate memo.

“Personally, I would like to thank Wendy for her partnership in the past four years,” Cheeks wrote. “Under your leadership, the competitive position and culture have improved dramatically in our television channels, and we have significantly expanded the local news. Our streaming messages platforms -national and locally -are stronger and growing. Digital extensions for several of our flagship -CBS news programs are now available.”

McMahon's departure takes place only a few weeks after Bill Owens, the long -time top producer with “60 minutes”, left after saying that the news magazine had lost its journalistic independence.

The tumult at CBS News comes as a paramount paramount paramount to complete a merger of 8 billion US dollars with the Skydance Media of the Media Production Group.

This merger requires the approval of the federal government – a situation that has led to ongoing internal tensions at CBS News. Since it is the merger, Paramount tries to have processed a lawsuit submitted by Trump about allegations “60 minutes” in the amount of 20 billion US dollars with the former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Experts have described the suit as unfounded – Owens signaled that the internal pressure of Paramount executives has not become sustainable.

“After defending this show from every point of view with everything I could – and for what we stand for, I step aside with everything I could, so that the show can go forward,” Owens wrote in a late memo that is widespread.
