More storms on the way after a deadly weekend, on which 28 were killed

Andy Beshear, governor of Kentucky, said on Sunday that the 19 deaths in the state were attributed to a single tornado who landed on Friday and damaged hundreds of houses in southeastern Laurel County.

Preliminary storm investigations by the national weather service confirmed significant Tornado damage in several counties in the state, including EF3 damage in Laurel County.

One of the victims was Major Leslie Roger Leatherman from Laurel County's fire brigade, who died during the response to the Tornado.

“Major Leatherman was a committed civil servant for 39 years and answered the call to protect and help others in their most critical need. His courage, his commitment and his victim will never be forgotten,” said the department.

Officials in Missouri have reported seven weather -related deaths since Friday: five in St. Louis County and two in Scott County. Over 5,000 houses and buildings were damaged after two confirmed Tornados were beaten through St. Louis on Friday, said Mayor Cara Spencer.

The National Weather Service Office of St. Louis said that one of these tornados was an EF3 with winds up to 152 miles per hour, which was followed by the north of St. Louis.

Two people also died in Virginia of fallen trees in storms.

On Tuesday, 26 million people are at risk for heavy storms from Louisiana to Indiana, including London, Kentucky, which still shines from previous storms.
