Leslie Obi death

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A man was in prison 25 years ago because he had missed two weeks in the death of a Houston five -member mother.

On May 13, James Campbell owed himself to manipulate/fabricate physical evidence in connection with the death of 43-year-old Leslie Obi.

In January 2023, ABC13 spoke to Campbell in his apartment on Scott Street, which was about seven miles from the spot where Obi was last seen.

Campbell said ABC13 that he knew Obi from his first job and admitted to helping another man he claims to have killed OBI, moving and tidying up her body from his apartment.

Family members reported that Obi was missing on January 12, 2023. Most recently, on January 11, she was seen near Charleston Park Drive and the Highway 90 in Southwest Houston around 8 a.m.

Further investigations showed that, according to the police, Obi was killed in Campbell's apartment on Scott Street. The investigators said he had manipulated Obi's body after her death and let him throw him away.

On January 18, a body was discovered in the forest in Cullen Boulevard and Wilmington Street. The police said that parking employees made the area for a redesign job when they came across the body.

The body was positive on January 25th than that of Obi. Autopsy results showed that she had suffered trauma in her body, and the medical examiner's office decided her death as a murder.

Although Campbell was convicted of manipulation, nobody is charged with Obi's murder.

According to court documents, Campbell admitted to moving the body of a deceased woman out of his apartment without notifying the authorities.

During his first appearance of the court, the hearing officer Lionel Castro read in court before the accusations of documents and said: “They claimed the police that someone else had killed them who had left the body in their apartment, and they had paid a crackhead to remove their bodies from the apartment and clear the blood in the apartment.”

Campbell was on probation at the time of his arrest. He spent 45 years in prison for a murder in Washington County for more than 36 years ago. It has been on probation since 2005, which was extended by 2037.
