Pirates injury updates: Jared Jones schedule, 'Really good news' about Nick Gonzales

Pittsburgh-Pittsburgh Pirates Senior Director of Sports Medicine, Todd Tomczyk, offered updates about several injured players, including the right-handed Jared Jones and the second Baseman Nick Gonzales.

Jones (right -wing ellbogen -Ucl immersion) is cleared to throw and already had two sessions with a light catch of 60 feet without problems.

While Jones progresses, the pirates will stretch it onto 90 feet and 120 feet.

“It will be a joint effort, especially at Jared, with our Pitching department and our performance team,” said Tomczyk. “(We want him to continue to be pain -free is still fluid, but he missed six weeks, so he will take some time to build up.”

As soon as he progresses in his throwing progress, the next steps will finally lead to a rehab task. Assuming everything goes well, the initial gross estimate is that Jones can be reintroduced into the rotation of the pirates in about 12 weeks, but according to Tomczyk there is nothing carved into stone.

“We are always open to accelerate this if and when it is safe and how it is safe and what is best for Jared.“”

As for Gonzales, who has been out of his left ankle since the opening day with a non-overwearing fracture in his left ankle.

“He started going normally – a little support with an ankle disc or AFO,” said Tomczyk. “You will see how he throws. You will see how it does. You will probably see how he takes earth balls.”

According to Tomczyk, the next goal for Gonzales is to jog it by the end of the week and make it easy to mobility.

Additional updates for pirates:

  • Endy Rodríguez (right index finger injury): While Rodríguez heals wound, the doctors have decided to immobilize them for another week because the movement required on their fingers is required.
  • Tim Mazya (Lat-Stamm): No Throw for about six weeks.
  • Justin Lawrence (right -wing elbow inflammation): Still waiting for a second opinion from Dr. Keith master. He doesn't throw.
