Joliet young driver who was killed by Will County Crash – Shaw Local

An 18-year-old driver died of injuries that he had suffered in an accident in Joliet Township.

The MPs of the Will County Sheriff's Office answered on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the 17300 block of the New Lenox Road.

According to a explanation of the sheriff office, the MPs discovered a Honda sedan with “considerable damage” on the passenger side of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was Mason Smolik, 18, from Joliet, according to the Coroner's Office of Will County.

Smolik lost control, crossed the opposite lane and then slipped on the side of the street, the police said.

The vehicle then hit a “large, vacant building,” said the police.

Part of the street had been under construction.

Smolik was brought to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where he died of his injuries, the police said.

The crash is examined.
