Many thanks to softball star Jessia BreedyPadilla, formerly known as Franklin, returned to the top of the Rochester City Athletic Conference on Saturday afternoon.

Breedy, a junior, threw a brilliant game against the reigning Champ School of the Arts, scored 15 batteries and scored two runs to help the Padilla/World of Inquiry School Bulldogs with a 7:4 win in the RCAC championship game at Greece Odyssey. It was a remaining of the 2024 final that Sota 16: 2 won.

According to coach Darren Currey, Padilla recently won an RCAC title as Franklin in 2019 – the last of three final trips after falling on Sota in 2017 and 2018. Currey trained Thomas Jefferson High School, who was put together with Franklin before the institution was closed in 2012. In 2012 he transferred Franklin. After 2019, returned.

The bulldogs have many talented athletes, but none of them play travel ball. The lack of experience stumbles into section V Padilla and other RCAC teams that begins on Thursday. Silver Hawks by Sota coach Ray Diaz won the previous four RCAC titles.

“This is big for you. This is our own city championship. It is something special for us because we have many girls from similar situations. Some girls start softball when they are younger. … Some start when they are seniors,” said Currey, whose bulldog improved to 10-4.

Most valuable player

Jessia Breedy

Breedy can be the best softball player in the city of Rochester.

She seemed to go in this direction last year when she made the RCAC all touring team with four strikes and two goals on the plate. On Saturday Breedy was 0: 1, but worked three walks, which put Sota's defense under pressure when she used her sporty gifts to constantly move on the base paths. She only went in a circle in two batteries.

Her older sister Jazmine was a six-year-old ace who was the winner for Franklin in the 2019 RCAC championship game.

“To be honest, we needed a lot of hard work. We haven't had enough trust in ourselves in the past few years. We came with the right mind today. We knew what we wanted,” said Jessia Breedy.

“Your father works a lot with her.

All-tournament team

Shayliana Nartey

The Junior Catcher previously started at Shortstop before an injury in Padilla's battery of Nartey moved behind the plate. She was the two-hole hitter of the Bulldogs, which went 1-2 with two walks and a victim fly, which pulled for a 2-1 inining advantage of the Rassey. Currey was impressed by how Narrtey's ability to control and stop the games, stopped balls.

“She is always incredible. We never have to worry about Jessia. The team is unbelievable. Hard work and commitment. Always and forever,” said Nardey.

Destany Wilson

The Padilla Freshman Right Field has caught two pop flying in defense. Wilson 1-2 was on the record with a walk. Not bad for a softball player in the first year.

“The coaches (and) the team urged me to work harder and do it better,” said Wilson.

Avi Martinez

Sotas Junior Pitcher met a Homerun in the park in a lead to bring the Reining Champs 1-0 in the first inn. Martinez finished 1-3 with a walk and hit seven batteries in a three-grain. She escaped a bases that was led at the top of the sixth in the sixth to stay within five runs. In 2024, Martinez went 2: 3 with a triple to make the all-tournament team.

Martinez was the most animated player on Odyssey's lawn. She spread her arms in a circle, when a sun light beam from the clouds appeared in the fourth inning, sang chants through a loud bullhorn sang from the shelter and screamed with passion for strikeouts.

Hope Reddington

Sotas Junior Shortstop recorded her own Homerun in the park in sixth place, a nice episode of the two homers she met in the final of the past year, which helped her make the all-touring team as a midfielder. Reddington went 2-3 from two-hole Saturday for Ray Diaz 'Silver Hawks (7-6).

Game

Padilla led 4-2 with two outs in fifth place when the Bulldogs broke the game on a coupling game of the second second Baseman Baseman Kharma Walker.

Walker ended 0-1 with two walks, but her swing forced an infield error with the invited bases, which led to three bulldogs: NARTEY, Janya estrada And Jaaida Martinez. Sota should have filled out a routine 5-3, but Sotas third Baseman Gabbrielle Norman and first Baseman Jasmyne Jones it failed to close the inning by the retirement of Walker. Padilla increased its lead to 7-2.

In the RCAC semi-final on Thursday, Padilla Monroe/School defeated without walls/East High 18-1. The Bulldogs will organize Finney in the regular season finale on Monday. Padilla is currently registered in the AAA class five team section V in the V-Class V-Class section, but the finalist Fairport (8-10) and Rush-Henrietta (12-7) 2024 State finalist Fairport (8-10) seem to be the favorites.

Sota, which Wilson/Early College defeated in the RCAC semi-final with 20: 8, will visit Northstar Christian on Monday before ending the regular season as the host of Gates Chili on Tuesday. The Silver Hawks are currently the number 3 class A of class A, which are also seen as an outsider in a classification with semi-finalists from 2024 Pittsford Sutherland (16-2).
