UNC Community mourns the loss of strength coaches who died in the car crash :: Wral.com

The University of North Carolina in the Chapel Hill Community mourns the loss of Dominick “Nick” Vetell, the deputy strength and fitness trainer of the school for Olympic sports.

Vetell died in a car accident early Friday morning, such as an obituary published on the Boles Funeral Home website. He was 32.

“Nick has touched countless life with his strength, his friendliness and his unshakable spirit”, an Instagram post by Tar Heel strength. “His legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.”

Vetell closed the Olympic strength and conditioning staff in January 2019.

The native trinity started as an intern at UNC.

Vetell worked in front of UNC at the IMG Academy, where he assisted football, baseball, athletics, tennis and football. Before the IMG Academy, he was the strength and fitness trainer for the wrestling at the Greensboro College. He was also an intern at Fort Bragg at the United States Army Special Operations Command (Usasoc), the State Weightlifting Club and Appalachian State University Athletics.

In 2016, Vetell acquired his master in training science from Appalachian State University. In 2014 he also acquired a bachelor's degree in health at the university. From 2010 to 2015 he competed as a wrestler for the state of Appalachian.

The UNC website said Vetell lived in Creedmoor.

Vetell leaves his wife and a 2-year-old daughter. Friends have set up a gofundme on behalf of Vetell.
