Trump insults Walmart and Mattel because he warn of collective bargaining increases

President Trump tells some of the largest companies in the country that they should eat the costs of its tariffs because a growing number of companies signal that they have to increase prices to the effects of a continuing global trade war.

As a result, the man who praised for the presidency is openly played with corporate America to determine how Walmart, Mattel and other retailers and manufacturers react to some of the highest taxes in decades.

Since spring, the United States has imposed a tariff of 10 percent on almost every nation, with steeper duties reserved for certain products and countries, including taxes of at least 30 percent on Chinese imports.

While the White House insists that the president's strategy works – generated new income and force the nations to negotiate – some companies have started to report signs of financial burdens at an early stage. Their warnings have confirmed the long and widespread conviction of the economists that the tariffs and consumers fall hardest, not to the allies and opponents that Mr. Trump wants to punish.

But the White House repeatedly dismissed this evidence, while the president himself increasingly needed companies because he tried to improve the financial consequences.

“He claims that abroad absorbs these tariffs,” said Karoline Leavitt, press spokeswoman for the White House, reporters on Monday at a briefing.
