The Vatican has announced that the papal conclave would begin on Wednesday, May 7th.

The College of Cardinals enters the Sistine chapel and remains until a new Pope is selected, except that it eats and sleeps in the Domus Santae Marthae. Conclave ”from Latin means“ with key ”. The cardinals are remote without electronic communication devices and dedicated to a single task.

Pontifex comes from “Pontus” for the bridge. This title means that the Pope's task is a bridge between humanity and the divine. It is the task of the cardinals to put aside your own personal wishes or ambitions to select a Pontifex that is best equipped to take on the role of the successor for St. Peter. The Holy Writings recorded that Jesus Simon Peter described as “the rock on which I will build my church”. Today it is a leadership role of global importance.

The rituals for the election of a new Pope have been revised over centuries. Changes in successive popes to ensure the integrity of the process reflects the teachings from the history of Roman papacy. Popes, anti-popes, war monarches, ascent and falling empire describe power struggles between the church and empire. The modern papacy is supposed to use diplomacy. Only Swiss guards in the old fighting clothing offer security in the Vatican.

The voices are taken daily, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. Prayer and reflection are planned if no progress seems likely. The most recent film “Conclave” offers a reliable example of the process with which every voice is recorded and reported. A majority of two/third plus one is required.

The voices are burned after every morning and afternoon tuning seats. Black smoke tells the believers that no choice was made. White smoke tells the world that a candidate is selected. The candidate is asked by the Dean of the College of Cardinale whether he accepts the election as the Supreme Pope, and he has to answer “Accepto”. The candidate moves in three different sizes into a space with papal clothing. It is often a tearful moment. The successor to St. Peter must choose a name under which it will be known; This is another tearful moment when a person becomes Pontifex to “wear the cross of his master and master”. The new Pope is accompanied on the balcony on St. Peter's Square to present the believers as the 267 and to speak to themselvesTH Successor of St. Peter.
