Houston Rockets take Big Ten Point Guard in the latest NBA Mock Draft

The NBA design of 2025 is more insurance than anything else for the Houston Rockets. While the other teams in the lottery missed the playoffs, the Rockets sit after 52:30 and grab the second seed in the Western Conference.

This does not mean that the design for Houston does not matter. The organization would like to build on a prospering season 2024-25, as there is still a lot of space for improvements after a difficult exit in the first round of the Golden State Warriors.

The Rockets are currently using their 2025 in the first round (No. 10 in total), but there were rumors that they would decrease after a superstar, which would probably cost the selection. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant are important names that can be seen when the offseason for the majority of the league begins.

In a draft of ESPN recently played by Jeremy Woo from ESPN, Houston is expected to select Illinois Point Guard Kasparas Jakucionis. The Lithuanian had a big season for the Fighting Illini with an average of 15.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists. At some point the 18-year-old was a projected top five election, but slipped out due to some last games.

“This choice is viewed in the league as a luxury capital for the Rockets, which are often mentioned by other teams as a great retail candidate to build on what they have achieved this season,” wrote Woo. “Houston has the draft of the assets and the young talent to aim at the next person available, as well as Reed Sheppard, who is probably waiting to take over more minutes next season.”

“If Houston keeps the choice, this is probably the best available situation, and Jakucionis has a good case in 10th place.

Jackucionis can create recordings almost anywhere on the pitch, it is about its efficiency and consistency. He can work at a high level in the pick-and-roll, but can he thrive from the bank in Houston? The Rockets can develop it in a similar way to Sheppard, or you can use Jakucionis in a large deal for win-now talents.
