Nashville, Tenn. (WSMV) – We learn more about a crime vine that extends into two states. The man who is accused of killing a woman with whom he was involved in the Hermitage is tied to several other crimes.

The Metro Nashville police said someone who came past Cassidy Jackson found Rachels Lane in Hermitage two weeks ago. Her friends said they were still dealing with the heartache.

“She was literally my safe person,” said Shania Kennedy, Jackson's girlfriend.

Kennedy said she and Jackson became the best friends in the high school before Jackson's life was canceled at the age of 23.

“To be honest, I had a panic attack when I found out that she had died,” said Kennedy. “I will only tear because it makes me so sad that she happened to her.”

MNPD said Jackson was shot along Rachels Lane, allegedly from a 35-year-old man she believed that they had seen them.

The authorities then said that the suspect Robert Smith drove Jackson's car to Georgia and gave it up in Atlanta. There Smith is accused of kidnapping a woman and her 10-year-old son.

He supposedly forced the woman to drive him back to Nashville with a weapon. MNPD said you had made a stop at Buc-EE. At that time the woman hid in the bathroom and told an employee what was going on, the 911 called. It led to a police chase, and Smith shot himself.

“I know that he is not alive, but I hope this guy knows what he did. She didn't deserve anything.”

MNPD said Smith had been associated with several other cases from Davidson County, who was with the shootout in the house of another person in connection with the house, with whom he was at some point romantic.

The police did not say what his alleged motif in Jackson's murder was or why the two residents of the Putnam district were in the hermitage.
