About 1,200 of the past few days gathered with members of other faiths and non -profit organizations last week to offer support and resources for those affected by the forest fires in California in January.

The products and services provided at the six -day event included:

  • Bulk article distribution (air purifier, PSA, hygiene kits, cleaning kits, meals, water and objects for children)

  • Distance from rubble and cleaning services

  • Emotional and spiritual care

  • Financial support (gift cards, vouchers)

  • Living and employment instructions

  • Legal and insurance guidelines

  • Federal Emergency Management Agency and Small Business Administration Guidance

“At the beginning we were concerned that all the help would go away and not go on, but today there are still many people who help a lot and it is very nice,” said Zara Ciccotelli, a survivor of the Eaton running fire. “I think there is hope and it helps to see that there are people who want to help us all the time.”

The aim was to support 2,500 households.

The event included volunteers from dozens of organizations that gathered in a local Saint Stake Center of the past few days to offer support.

“A non -profit organization, a church, a faith organization can do something, and everyone answers. But the answer is really so much more effective when everyone comes together,” said Michael Flood, CEO of the emergency network of Los Angeles.

The Church of Jesus Christ of the Saints of the last few days has been involved in relief measures since the beginning of the fires. According to a press release, members of the church contributed around 7,000 men.

“This event was our chance as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Saints of the last few days to stand on the place of the savior and reach our hands to raise others in this community around us,” said Shaun Jorgensen, President of Pasadena California Stake,.
