2 deaths for domestic violence examined in 24 hours

East Baton Rouge Parish, La. (WAFB) – Two separate death examinations took place in less than 24 hours with a common cause: women who were killed by domestic violence. Proponents have referred to it as concerns for public health.

“Domestic violence is an epidemic. It is a crisis. It tears the life of so many of our family members, friends and relatives and colleagues that we have to get up as a community,” said City Councilor Twahna Harris with the butterfly society.

According to the Baton Rouge police, 37-year-old Casey Warren killed his girlfriend, 31-year-old Elissia Thomas, after a home dispute. Officers say that Warren died later by suicide.

The Sheriff's office in East Baton Rouge says that 24-year-old Brandon Bell killed his ex-girlfriend Kayelyn Ford after attacking her in front of her apartment on Hooper Road in Central and then turning the weapon on herself. It is in poor condition in the hospital.

The central mayor Wade Evans said that domestic violence was far too often and too often hidden. He posted the following on Facebook:

Court files show that Bell was arrested in April and charged with domestic abuse battery. A protective arrangement was submitted in which the order bell was from Ford within 100 meters.
