Trump insists that Abrego Garcia has in spite of the evidence of a change 'MS-13' tattoo

During an interview with ABC Moran from ABC News on Tuesday, President Trump insisted that the man who had incorrectly deported his government to El Salvador had tattooed a gang name on his hand.

“On his ankles,” said Mr. Trump, “he had MS-13.”

Pause the tape. Back to a week earlier, when Mr. Trump was a photo of the man, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, and showed him four tattoos, one on every finger. There was a sheet, a smiley face, a cross and a skull. Above these symbols, the alphanumerical term “MS13” was overlaid to the photo and essentially served as a caption and decodes the tattoos. (Some gang experts wondered if they are really MS-13 symbols.)

In an interview with Mr. Moran, the President seemed to believe that the characters who had been typed in the photo that he triumphantly recorded in his social media post were actually tattoos themselves. Mr. Moran carefully tried to correct the recording about it, but Mr. Trump had nothing of it.

“Wait a minute,” he said. “Hey, Terry. Terry. Terry.”

Mr. Moran tried again: “He didn't have the letter -“

“Don't do that,” cut Mr. Trump. “MS-1-3. It's called MS-1-3.”

When Mr. Moran said these characters had been classified on the picture, Mr. Trump looked positively mutinically. The exchange went around and round when the president continued to claim that these figures and letters he wanted so much that the world would actually see the ankle on the ankles of this man.

He could not admit that Mr. Abrego Garcia did not tattoo the words “MS-13” on his hand.
