According to the police, two children are in the hospital after a bus came across a playground in South Minneapolis on Monday afternoon.

It happened outside the creative early learning center in the Richfield Lutheran Church in 8 W. 60th Street around 4:10 p.m.

The police say that the bus driver traveled to West 60th Street near Nicollet Avenue when the bus left the street and pushed the playground.

“I just got an emergency call in which he said that a bus came across the playground. It is an emergency room,” said Stephanie Hogan, one of the children in day care.

Two of the three children on the playground at the time of the crash were taken to the hospital with injuries who are not considered life -threatening, officials said. The third child and two others who were on the bus were not injured.

“I was hoping that it wasn't mine. I'm hung here to get my babies. We're on our way home. It's crazy. I'm forgetting tears,” said Hogan.

A day care worker informed the WCCO that the bus driver had also been taken to the hospital.

Investigators are working on learning more about the incident, although the police say that alcohol or drugs are not factors.

A WCCO photographer on site caught the pictures of the bus, which seems to have fallen through mesh fences and damaged playground equipment.
