In Trump Call, Putin achieves a diplomatic victory with an economic restriction

Since his invasion in 2022, President Vladimir V. Putin from Russia has wanted to end war in Ukraine on his conditions. And in the complex diplomatic maneuvers of the past few weeks, the Russian leader was able to defend his approach to negotiate a comprehensive peace agreement while he continues to wage war in Ukraine that he believes that he is going in his way.

Its hard position has brought the pressure of Ukraine, the European Union and until recently from the United States to an immediate ceasefire before starting peace talks. After talking to Mr. Putin on Monday, President Trump said that he welcomed direct conversations between Ukraine and Russia to an armistice and a broader deal to end the war, which in fact makes a final break with his previous promise to end the conflict a quick end.

But Mr. Putin's diplomatic victory could undermine his wider economic goals in order to normalize relationships with the United States.

After talking to Mr. Putin, Trump emphasized that the American economic approach with Russia would come to peace in Ukraine. If Mr. Trump connects the two problems with each other, Russia could limit this to an economic purgatory, whereby there is little immediate chance of facilitation of western sanctions or the foreign investments dangling from Trump.

“Russia wants to act on a large scale with the United States if this catastrophic” bloodbath “is over and I agree,” said Trump on Monday after calling in a statement.
