The residents of Lake Jackson, Texas, were warned to stay in the interior with the windows and air conditioning after a chlorine leak from a nearby chemical system on Tuesday morning.

The Lake Jackson police authority issued the warning after “an active chlorine release from DOW Chemical, Level 3, means that the gas is outside the limits of the facility”, according to a Facebook contribution.

“It is recommended to stay in the interior in closed doors and windows and take out air conditioning systems,” said the police.

The sirens started around 9 a.m. after the release of Chlorgas in the Olin unit of Dow Chemical in Appendix B, Click2houston.

According to Brazosport County Community Awareness & Emergency Response (CAER), protection on site is in force.

“The leak was stopped. At that time, no other communities have to comply. The security of our employees, the community and our environment always has our top priority,” said the Caer in a Facebook post.
