Cub's injury retire in question Pete Crow-Armstrong's role

The Chicago Cubs received some promising injury messages on Tuesday because the Outfield Ian Happ is activated by the injured list. In the best case, Happ is an all-star caliber outfield. He has won three gold gloves and has the hardware to meet again in the upper half of the Cubs line -up. The question is whether Happ receives the call as Chicago's Leadoff -Schlagmann, as he has done in the past. Pete Crow Armstrong can have a problem with it.

PCA has so far been electrical for the Cubs this season. Crow-Armstrong has developed as an NL MVP candidate of the early season and has already proven to be defensive. The Cubs manager Craig Punsell, who doubted whether Crow-Armstrong could take on the role of Leadoff-Schlagmann this spring, was impressed by The Young Slugger this season.

“It is what special players are able to influence all areas of the game,” said Cubs Manager Craig Consell about PCA (Jordan Bastian from H/T MLB.com). “The bat swings. Power. Baserunning. Defense. It was a wonderful game and he definitely felt his presence.”

Cubs have a difficult call to make Pete Crow-Armstrong

The good news for Consell is that he does not have to make a decision immediately and usually right with these things. Consulting at Crow-Armstrong at Leadoff-Stundes for the time being, while it is most sensible in such a high clip. Happ is a team-guide type and is still returning to the groove. There is no hurry to force him back into the Leadoff location.

Carter Hawkins gave a promising update via Happ, only the other day, but made it clear that he still had to check some boxes.

“Yes, I mean, Ian, as you said, comes with, he checks some of the boxes to return to the field. I would hope that, as you know, this, an almost minimal stay, if not even minimal stay, will see how it will be going on in the next few days, he has to pass on with the medium.

When Crow Armstrong is fighting this season, the Cubs can contact Happ. The role of the Leadoff grille should be based on performance, and at least for the time being PCA increases to the base and creates more than most players in MLB. That should be enough.
