A 12-year-old boy was killed in a vehicle accident after running around 6.38 p.m.

Nathan Ha, a seventh place Grader on the Roslyn Middle School ran over the Middle Neck Road “outside of a zebra crossing” near the Northern Boulevard when he was hit by a Ford pickup from 2023 that drove the police to the north.

The truck was operated by an 18-year-old man. According to the police, the driver stayed at the scene.

Nathan was brought to a nearby hospital in a critical condition, where he was declared dead by the hospital staff.

This is a devastating loss for the child's family, friends and for all of us in the Roslyn community. Our hearts go to the family in this most difficult time. ” Allison Brown, superintendent of the schools for the Free School district of Roslyn Union, said in a statement.

Brown said that all Roslyn public schools will be present. School staff are also available to support students, families and colleagues.

“We have experienced too many tragedies in our community, and I would like to express how heartbreaking this message is for all of us. In such moments it is more important than ever that we come together to support each other,” said Brown.

The police said the investigation continued.
