Winnipeg, Manitoba (AP) – Connor

Hellebuyck, who was announced as the finalist of Vezina Trophy on Monday, said reporters that his way of thinking was well in game 5 on Wednesday at home against St. Louis.

The blues connected the best-of-Seven opening series of the Western Conference 2: 2 after they had hit the jets on Sunday 5-1 and on 7.: 2 in St. Louis.

“You don't love to give up so many goals, but we are 2-2 in the series. This is all that matters. Win the next one,” said Hellebuyck, after not taking part in the optional skate on Monday.

“Will I be better? I get better. I learned extremely hard. I have probably studied the best of anyone in this world, so I know what I do and how I can get my best game. So I'm happy.”

Backup Eric Comrie replaced Hellebuyck in the third phase of the last two defeats and gave up a goal in the game on Thursday.

Hellebuyck is up for the NHL's Top Goalie Award with Darcy Kuemper Of The Los Angeles Kings and Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The 31-year-old from Commerce, Michigan, is the reigning winner of Vezina Trophy and also won the honor in 2020. He was finalist in 2018 and 2023.

Hellebuyck Posted Career Bests in Wins (47), Shutouts (Eight), Goals-Against Average (2.00) and Save Percentage (.925) to Help Winnipeg Finish the Regular Season with the League Best Record and Gain Home Home Capturing the Presidents' Trophy.

“It would be crazy to play so many games in the regular season and then suddenly switch something in the playoffs,” said Hellebuyck. “You don't win 47 games and then come the playoffs for everything. I know what it has to look like. I like a lot of things. I will not make big changes.”

Hellebuyck Won a Second Consecutive William M. Jennings Trophy as The Goaltender (Minimum of 25 Games Played) on the team Allowing the Fewest Regular Season Goals.

He said he was mentally prepared for what lies ahead of us.

“I think the playoff time is one of the most important attributes you can have is strong between your ears,” said Hellebuyck. “You don't want to go into a game that plays with fear. If you play with fear, you make that you actually make mistakes and want to strive for things.

“We go out, we play our game and they are still every single shift, every single game and every single day better. That is my way of thinking, and I'm looking forward to it.”
