Argentina's Milei closes the Task Force, which examines the Libra scandal

The Argentine President Javier Milei has dissolved a task force that was set up to examine the consequences of the scale, the scandalous cryptocurrency project that the head of state applied in his social media channel before it fell for zero.

The investigative task force (ITU) was dissolved by a decree of May 19 by Milei and Minister of Justice Mariano CĂșneo Libarona.

“The research tasks unit will be dissolved” after completing its mandate, the translated version of the decrees.

Despite the pressure of opposition groups who want to activate an investigative commission, the Task Force is already dissolved on May 20, reported the local media outlet Clarin.

Government officers founded the Uti on February 19, days after Milei promoted the scale on his official X account.

The scale briefly let its confirmation fly from almost $ 5 billion to almost $ 5 billion from almost US dollars before it quickly fell to zero in an apparently classic pump-and-dump scheme.

The consequences of Libra triggered allegations of the insider trade and manipulations, with Milei being caught in the crosshairs.

In addition to an investigation, Mileis suffered credibility at home, with almost 58% of the Argentine gave the president for his role in the scandal.

“I didn't commission it, I shared it”

In a television interview about Todo Noticias, Milei contested any misconduct for the promotion of the project and claimed that he only shared information about a project to help entrepreneurs to receive access to financing options.

“I saw a tool that was able to finance entrepreneurs and I spread the floor. I acted in good faith and scored a goal,” he said, according to a translation of the interview.

Milei also played down the losses of the investors and claimed that “at most” 5,000 people were affected – the vast majority of them were Chinese and American. He claimed that only “four or five” Argentinan's losses had suffered.

Nevertheless, Blockchain data, which were checked by CoinTelegraph, showed that more than 15,000 bridles sold Libra with a profit or loss of more than $ 1,000. More than 86% of the wallets made a loss of 251 million US dollars.
