Newnan deserves the third GHSA-Baseball state championship after Mercy-Ruting Houston County

The Newnan Cougar's baseball program brought the schools the third GHSA Baseball State Championship on Monday evening at Coolray Stadium, when they swept Houston County 3-1 in the first game, followed by an 11-1 victory in the last game of the series to climb the Schools First State Championship since 1991.

The victory on Monday evening for Newnan brought the Cougars their third GHSA Baseball State Championship, which increased their championship in both 1951 and 1991, the first baseball title in 34 years.

Newnan's victory kept a fifth title when he came home to Houston County when the Cougars ended the 2025 season with 32: 5.

In the first game, the goal in the third inner started when the Cougars brought home two runs thanks to a Hayes Maginnis victim, and a Brodie Campbell RBi-Single to bring two to the board for Newnan at the bottom of the third inner.

Houston County replied with a Homerun by Isaiah Galason on the fourth inning on the fourth inning to make it a 2-1 ball game. A mistake from the bears at the end of the fourth inner was once again a guided tour with two runs when the score rose to 3: 1, which remained for the rest of the game.

In the second game, the Cougars drove it in the last game of the series when they defeated Houston County 11-1 in five innings.
