Shai Gilgeous-Alexander after a series victory against the Denver Nuggets on May 18, 2025 (Alonzo Adams/Images.)

The Thunder recorded the best record of the league (68-14) this season and swept the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round, but needed all seven games to drop the Denver Nuggets in the second round. They also triggered many debates in NBA circles, whereby the league tried to highlight them with first -class TV slots, which indicates that this team could be a strength for a while.

The defense -oriented efforts of Oklahoma City (101.6 points per game in this post -season, preferably in the league) have also led to some games with bad shootings. This was particularly evident in game 4 of her series against Denver, which Stephen A. Smith had a first half to be “all lowlights”. In many stories about her individual players, it was also about defense, including how Alex Caruso in game 7 of this series was the key to lock Nikola Jokić. But this is still a team with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has scored more than 30 points in his last three games, and you can pour buckets if you need it.

In these NBA playoffs there were many outsider runs, but Minnesota's stitching. The Timberwolves not only took higher teams with larger stars (the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors), but also defeated both games in five games. That didn't necessarily attract them to a lot of attention, but their destruction of memes like Shannon Sharpes “Lakers in 5” and ESPN's unanimous selection of the Lakers about them was impressive.

Minnesota does many things well. The Timberwolves are in second place on thunder with 106.8 points per game. They are also fourth in the Field Goal percentage (second of the remaining teams) with a 46.5%brand. The most important players are Anthony Edwards from the debates “Face of the NBA” and Rudy Gobert, who has a great overcoming criticism and meme.

Tyrese Haliburton after his Pacers defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers to cling this series on May 13, 2025.
Tyrese Haliburton After his Pacers defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers to cling this series on May 13, 2025 (Ken Blaze/IMAGES.)

This series shows two teams, many of which had not expected at that time. The Knicks took off the Detroit Pistons in the first round, then the Boston Celtics in the second and in the latter series triggered a lot from the settings with some of their comebacks (and the Celtics brawn leads).

In the first round, the Pacers acted with the Milwaukee Bucks in five games, but were excluded by many against the top seeds in the second round. 11 ESPN experts unanimously selected them, but they won the series in five games. This is not only a series of the second round (Indiana won in seven) last year, but also one of the most described playoff rivalries of the nineties (with its own 30 for 30).

For this matchup, the Pacers come in with the more powerful crime. In this post -season you are the second (after Cleveland) in points per game (117.1), the first in the field target percentage (50.1%) and three points percentage (40.6%) and the first in assists per game (29.7). And while Star Tyrese Haliburton was temporarily under fire, he dropped 31 points (in the 10-of-15 shooting) last week in her series clinching victory against the Cavaliers and leads the league with 9.3 assists per game in these playoffs.

On the other hand, the Knicks have had a strong defense so far. To date, they have approved 110.6 points per game (fifth in the playoffs, but third of the remaining teams and three places in front of the Pacers). Jalen Brunson, especially on both ends (including 23 points, six rebounds and six assists in their clincher against the Celtics) and even some “biggest kink of all”. We will see what he and his team can do in this series.
