Fayetteeville man charged with murder in the death of a child

Fayetteville, NC (WTVD) – A man from Fayetteeville was charged with murder in the death of a child, said the Cumberland County's sheriff office on Tuesday evening.

Darrell Lamar Evans Jr., 21, was arrested and charged with child abuse and the murder of a child of the first degree.

The MPs responded to the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on May 8, after a baby was called up for a traumatic brain injuries. The child died the next day.

The North Carolina Chief Medical Examiner office came after the autopsy that the type of death was murder.

The baby was left in Evans on May 8th.

Evans was recorded in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. His first court appearance is planned for Wednesday.
