Bidens prostate cancer diagnosis highlights the screening weighting

Cincinnati (WKRC) – President Joe Biden's most recent diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer has prompted doctors to emphasize the critical importance of screening and early detection for the disease. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, but many are not aware of when they should be camouflaged.

Dr. Mark Delworth, a urologist and prostate scraper at the Urology Group and Trihealth, said that the standard test for early detection is a blood test that is known as PSA. However, he noticed: “In general, this is a decision that was made between a doctor and a patient about the appropriateness.”

Certain groups have a higher risk of prostate cancer, including African -American men, men over 60 years and people with a family history of the disease. Dr. Delworth pointed out that a PSA mirror often increases before symptoms of prostate cancer occur. In aggressive cases like President Biden, symptoms and advanced diseases can develop quickly.

“Before the PSA screening, over 50 percent of people like this had a more extensive illness,” said Dr. Delworth. “Thanks to the PSA screening, it has now dropped to 5 to 10 percent, but it still happens.”

Dr. Delworth emphasized how important regular screenings, especially in men over 50 years.
