Google officially started Flow today, a new platform for AI-driven filmmaking that transforms the generative video functions of the company into a comprehensive creative tool. Flow is announced on Google I/O 2025 and builds on Google's earlier video experiment, but extends its functions dramatically and positions it as a storytelling platform and not just as a videoogener.

“Flow is inspired what it feels like when the time slows down and the creation is effortless, iterative and full of possibilities,” says Google's announcement. It was specially built for VEO 3, the company's latest video model, with which sound effects, background noises and character dialogue can now be generated directly in videos.

What distinguishes the flow from basic text-to-video tools is the focus on continuity and filmmaking. As soon as you have created characters or scenes, you can play these “ingredients” over several clips and at the same time keep the consistency – a critical feature of the true storytelling with which most other AI Videogenerators have to struggle.

The platform comprises several filmmaker focusing functions: camera controls for adapting movement and angling angles, scene builders for the expansion of scenes and the reveal of more actions with continuous movement and an asset management system for the organization of creative elements. There is also Flow TV, in which you can see the creations of other users together with the input requests that you manufacture and serve as inspiration and as a learning tool.

For those who want to try it out, Flow subscribed to Google Ai Pro (which offers 100 generations per month) and Google AI Ultra plans in the USA, with more countries coming soon. The Ultra plan with a price of $ 249.99 per month offers the highest usage limits and early access to the audioogenization functions of VEO 3.

The company sees AI tools like Flow as an enabler and possibly enables a new wave of filmmakers and storytellers. While Google recognizes that it is still early for the AI in filmmaking, Google sees an immense potential for the river to unlock new voices and creative expressions and to position them as an important part of this developing landscape.
