Death of the Bemidji man in the apartment, which is examined as a murder

The Bemidji police authority has published more details on how it describes the suspicious death of a man in the city.

The victim was found dead in the Courtyard Apartments in the America Avenue on Monday. He was identified as a 41-year-old Benjamin Martinez von Bemidji.

According to a press release from the chief of police from Bemidji, Mike Mastin, Martinez is said to have died of drugs on an overdose, but the case is examined as a murder. On Monday there was also a report about a gas leak in the same area, and when the officials arrived at the scene, she smelled a strong smell near the apartment complex and worked on evacuating other residents.

A woman and a small child were brought from the scene to the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, where they were treated and released. Minnesota Energy reacted to the scene and found that there was no gas leaf and the residents were allowed to go back to their apartments.

Mastin says there seems to be no threat to the public.
