Chlorine leak in Texas Chemical plans prompted protection in place

Freeport, Texas (AP) – A chlorine leak in a chemical plant in Texas prompted the officials to ask the residents in two Texas cities near the facility on Tuesday.

According to Brazosport Caer, an organization that offers communication between residents and petrochemical industries in the region, Chlorgas was released from a work in Freeport at 9 a.m. heard. Freeport is about 97 kilometers south of Houston.

Officials announced that the leak had been stopped around 9:45 a.m.

An application for protection on site was issued shortly after the leak as a precaution for the residents of Clute and Lake Jackson, official said. The request on the spot was lifted around 10:40 a.m.

It was not immediately known whether there were injuries due to the leak.

“The status of the chlorine leak was contained and an all -clear was spent,” said the police of Lake Jackson on social media.

In an explanation in which Clayton, Olin in Missouri, said Olin that all employees were taken into account, and people who potentially exposed were medically evaluated.

“We carry out a thorough analysis to determine the cause of the release. Olin is grateful for the quick reaction and support of all website and local emergency teams during this incident. The security of our employees, the community and our environment always has our top priority,” said Olin.

The company manufacturer chlorine, industrial bleach, hydrochloric acid and other products with which plastics, paper products and detergents are produced.
