Iowas Ojo overcomes an injury and hits a Grand Slam against cyclones

Iowa City, Iowa (KCRG) – It is no surprise that young girls achieved an autograph by Iowas Jaylee ojo after Hawkeyes' 5-0 victory against the state of Iowa.

“I was selected to be at that moment,” said Ojo.

With the bases invited in the sixth inning, ojo was hit to pinch.

“I didn't have to tell her anything. I told her all the season that I was waiting for her to meet you,” said Karl Gollan, head coach of Iowa Softball,.

He gave up a head up for the second year because he may need it. The Sophomore delivered a 3-2 number.

“To be honest, I only hoped to make hard solid contact and move the runners as much as possible,” said Ojo. “If a Grand Slam came out of it, be it.”

It was a big moment for the young Hawkeye in her seventh career at Bat.

“In practice, you can see that she has this extraordinary exit speed and that bounces off the bat. I knew how she would be in a meeting at some point, that would be the result,” said Gollan.

When OJO 2023 arrived in Iowa City, she tore her shoulder. It was operated on throughout the summer and was returned to the blow about a month ago.

“To be honest, I just wanted to record it a bit, just because it was a while ago. I hadn't been able to get a injury back for some time. It was nice to finally have a racket in my hands and help my team in this way,” she said.

The Grand Slam marked her first Homerun as Hawkeye. It also assured her that she gets going again.

“I just try to remember that I am a consistent power hill. I couldn't do it in the past, why shouldn't I do it now,” said ojo.
