Crash closes the West Main Street in Meriden, reported power outages

Meriden, CT (WFSB) – An accident with two cars on Tuesday evening closes part of the West Main Street in Meriden after one of the vehicles had hit a supply staff.

According to the State Department of Transportation, the crash occurred around 10 p.m. near the intersection of West Main Street and the Chamberlain Highway.

The Merid police said that no life -threatening injuries were reported.

However, the impact snapped the userwork and left living wires over the intersection.

A nearby McDonald's had to close due to the damage and failures. Several vehicles in the restaurant's parking lot were damaged, the police said.

They waited on Wednesday morning to remove the vehicles and clean up liquids.

Eversource crews reacted overnight and remained on site to safely restore the power supply.

The police closed the West Main Street from Route 71 to Vine Street and expected it to be blocked for several hours because the repairs were continued on Wednesday morning.
