BMW confirms Skytop to record the brake in a new teaser video

Not that we had doubts, but BMW actually gives the skytop a more practical shooting brake. A new teaser video confirms that the breathtaking show car of the last year will receive a long-term version from Concorso d'Elegaa Villa d'Este. Gone are the manually removable Targapaneele, which are replaced by a fixed roof, which ends with a large rear spoiler.

It is the second shooting brake with the BMW Roundel lately, which according to the concept touring coupé from the show 2023. Logic suggests that the second -door car has a different name to better distinguish it from the skytop. Although the new M8-based beauty is described as one-off, it can be offered to the customer. As a refreshment, the Targa top version receives a limited production run of 50 units. It would make sense for the estate to get a license plate.

BMW has never announced price details for the open-air skytop, but reports that it may have cost € 500,000. It is difficult to say whether the shooting brake would be cheaper or more expensive if a production version is planned. The higher ups in Munich were probably encouraged by the success of the Targa Cabriolo to approve a follow-up car.

The M4 CSL-based 3.0 CSL was a growing success despite its unconfirmed price tag of € 750,000. If only BMW would have given the concept on Touring Coupé green light. The shooting brake based in Z4 M40i was rumored that it receives a production course of 50 units at $ 250,000 each. Unfortunately, it was never concluded. We hope that this new rotary brake will make it for production, even if it is only limited a few dozen cars for wealthy buyers.

The world premiere is locked up for May 23 in the Concorso d'Elanza Villa d'Este. At the same show that takes place on the banks of the Como lake in Italy, BMW M will also present a new car. It has not yet been teased, but a well -founded assumption indicates that we will see the M2 CS. In addition, a special display of 3 series models will mark the E21 for half a century.
